Godliness with Contentment
“But godliness with
contentment is great gain.” 1 Tim. 6:6
Learning to occupy the place of “godliness with
contentment” is a powerful lesson, as it allows us to step into a powerful
place within the Kingdom of God. The
following testimony speaks to this attribute.
“The last woman in the room came up and shared with tears
in her eyes what she believed was an answer to her prayers. She was due to be released from the
correctional facility within a year and she is in prison in Virginia, while her
boyfriend lives in Massachusetts. Her
boyfriend’s mother’s name is Sue. When
the chaplain introduced me to the group as Sue from Massachusetts, this woman
almost fell off her chair. She had been
asking God what she should do when she was released and felt like the Lord was
trying to get her attention. She was
“content to wait upon the Lord” and that godliness with contentment had
produced great gain in her life. She
felt like the Lord was drawing near to her and the answer was on its way.”
Are we willing to find this place and learn to occupy
it? Are we content with waiting upon the
Lord, even when His responses seem to “take too long” for our desires? Let us seek this godliness with contentment
with fervor and willingly yield to the Lord’s perfect timing. He is not late nor early but right on
time!
