Repentance and the Kingdom
“Repent,
for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Mt. 3:2
John the Baptist said in Mt. 3:2, “Repent, for the
kingdom of heaven is at hand.” In
Mt. 4:17,”from that time on Jesus began to preach and to say, ‘Repent, for
the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Later in Mt. 4:23, “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in
their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of
sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.” And, as an instruction to His hearers, Jesus
said in Mt. 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,
and all these things shall be added to you.”
This Kingdom was not the one expected by the Jewish
faithful. They were waiting for an
EXTERNAL kingdom – one they could see, a King (Messiah) who would come and be
prominent and save them and restore them economically and politically. His Kingdom that Jesus the Christ ushered in
was an INTERNAL one – invisible, in the lowly and least likely places, where
restoration and saving happened, person by person. This great Jewish King was a meek and gentle
Lamb of God.
Beloved, understand the power of the King and the
Kingdom! Receive the truth that the
Kingdom and the King resides within each of us!
When we access the Kingdom, we will subdue the enemy and claim lost
ground and rule over it – through the authority given to us by Christ! This is what we mean by “spreading the Kingdom
around.”
