The Goodness of the Lord

"I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living."  Ps. 27:13

Yes!  When we are proactive in seeking out God's goodness on a regular basis, we will find it.  David wrote this verse out of his faith and hope in the Lord - that yet while he lived, he would see the goodness of God.  This is true for us.  We do not have to hold out for the hope of heaven to see, taste, and experience the goodness of the Lord.  We can encounter His goodness now - in the land of the living.

What does God's goodness look like?  It is as vast and varied as our Maker and Creator.  His goodness may appear to us in the big events of life.  For example, a friend recently gave birth and in the precious gift of life, we see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the new-born living.  It is exquisite to behold. 

Perhaps more often, we find the goodness of the Lord in the little things of life.  We might have to look a little closer to find it, but it is there.  We are kept safe throughout the day - thank You for Your goodness, Lord.  Someone calls or writes us with an encouraging word - we have experienced God's goodness.  A family meal together or breaking bread with friends is a taste of His goodness.  The list is endless.

Lord, help us to discover even more of Your goodness this day.
